What we collect
Information you give us directly: - Your name, email, and shipping address when you place an order. - Your email when you join our list for offers and new-work updates. - Messages, and any name or email you choose to share, when you use the live chat. - Account details (name, email) if you create an account to sign in.
Information collected automatically: - Basic usage data — pages viewed, rough location, device and browser — through cookies and analytics, to understand how the site is used. - Your IP address and standard request data in our hosting logs.
We never see or store your full card number. Card payments are handled securely by Stripe.
How we use it
- To process, make, and ship your order, and to email you about it.
- To answer your questions through chat or email.
- To send the marketing emails you signed up for — you can unsubscribe from any of them in one click.
- To understand and improve how the site works.
- To meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, ever.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data. We share it only with the trusted service providers that make the store run, and each one receives only what it needs to do its job: - Stripe — secure payment processing. - Shippo and USPS — shipping labels and delivery. - Sanity — stores our content and your order records. - Clerk — account sign-in and authentication. - Brevo — sends our email newsletter. - Tawk.to — powers the live chat. - Google Analytics — helps us understand site usage. - Vercel — hosts the website.
We may also share information if required by law, or to protect our rights and our customers.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use them in a few ways: - Essential — keep your cart, sign-in, and checkout working. The site can't function without these. - Functional — remember things like your saved favorites and run the live chat. - Analytics — help us see how the site is used so we can improve it.
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings, though some features may not work without the essential ones.
Your choices and rights
You can: - Unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in any email. - Ask us what personal data we hold about you, and request a copy. - Ask us to correct or delete your data. - Object to or restrict certain uses of your data.
If you're in the EU or UK, these rights are protected under the GDPR. To make any request, just email sales@thewoodstershop.com and we'll take care of it.
How long we keep it
We keep order records for as long as needed to fulfill the order and to meet tax and legal requirements. We keep your newsletter email until you unsubscribe. You can ask us to delete your data at any time, and we will unless we're required to keep it by law.
Where your data is handled
We operate from the United States, and some of our service providers process data in the US and the EU. Where data moves internationally, our providers use standard safeguards to protect it.
Buying through Etsy
We also sell through our Etsy shop. If you buy there, Etsy's own privacy policy governs that purchase — this policy covers thewoodstershop.com.
Children
This store isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the store evolves. When we do, we'll change the date at the top of the page.
